Why Maven District is Becoming the Community for Female Business Owners

What if I told you there's a place where you can take a yoga class, get your hair done, grab a coffee and shop some of the best local and curated brands in Salt Lake City? Not to mention, 80% of the stores are female-owned. I'm talking about Maven District, which is located halfway between the 9th and 9th and Central 9th neighborhoods.

Maven District is the brainchild of Tessa Arneson, former owner of 9th & 9th Pilates. Along with her husband Tim Watke, who is a developer, they dreamed up having a community where they could highlight some of the key small business owners in SLC.

At the heart of it is Maven Strong. Whether you're looking for a yoga, barre, pilates, circuit, TRX or reformer class, they have it all. Not only is it a beautiful studio buzzing with all their clients coming and going from class, but everywhere in the space there are these wonderful and inspiring quotes. And can we talk about the pink flamingo wallpaper in the bathroom!

Some of the other businesses that are part of the Maven District are:

  • Alcove Hair Collective: This hair studio is all about a good cut, color, and blow dry.

  • Ink + Arch: Offering everything from microblading to medical-grade esthetic skin treatments, and speed waxing all in a safe, strict and sterile environment.

The name “The Land of Salt” is an ode to our hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. We often travel throughout the state scouring the local rock shops, and soaking in the beautiful landscapes to use as inspiration for our pieces.
